This nontechnical guide provides helpful advice and insight for those who are in an intimate relationship with someone diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. Although the American Psychiatric Association recently discarded the term ‘Asperger syndrome’ in favor of diagnosing patients as having an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASP), this book has retained its use of the term Asperger as being a common reference to ‘high functioning’ autism. Nonetheless, the book should be relevant to others on the autism spectrum as well. The second edition of this book (it was first published in 2001) is informed by the latest clinical and research knowledge, but remains slim and accessible to all readers, with sections arranged around information and diagnosis of the condition, and issues of daily living, such as communication, anger, sex, money and empathy.
