Madison Giller (17) and her brother Ethan (16) live on Merritt Island, Florida, with their father, Dr. Gordon Giller, a world-renowned molecular physicist who has worked at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center for 27 years. Their mother, Laura, is a Professor of Environmental Studies at Stanford University in California, but even with monthly visits, they miss her very much. So Dr. Giller secretly invented the world’s first Human Teleporting device (HT), so Laura can now ‘port’ home in seconds, whenever she wants. Sworn to secrecy, the family now enjoys visiting several countries in a single day, bypassing the hassle of luggage, airports, and customs.During these adventures, Madison and Ethan befriend Rafael (18), a first-year police cadet from Majorca, Spain, and Maya (18), a brilliant computer genius from Mumbai, India. She’s a paraplegic and works for the Indian Space Agency and also consults for India’s Intelligence Agency. When Madison and Ethan accidentally reveal the HT’s existence to Maya, she shares her big secret: she helps the Intelligence Agency capture criminals, but they often face challenges due to a lack of evidence. Maya believes the HT can be modified to teleport back in time, and after three months of intense research, she succeeds. The HT could now send them back up to 24 hours, enabling “you to witness crimes when they were happening”, anywhere in the world.Madison and Ethan knew they couldn’t do this alone, so they recruited a very willing Rafael to provide his police expertise. Their parents would never approve, of course, so the teens pledge to operate in secrecy, with any reward money going to charity. By the end of BOOK 1, despite Maya and Rafael working full-time in different time zones, and Madison and Ethan balancing high school with the family’s international travels, the four teens manage to keep their double life a secret.
