An empowering holiday picture book by #1 New York Times bestselling author Meena Harris about a young elf who doesn't want to follow in her family's footsteps and discovers a Christmas secret that helps her see things in a new way.Amalia, a toy-making elf from a long line of toy-making elves, goes in search of her own Christmas joy and discovers from none other than Mrs. Claus the importance of being true to yourself while also honoring family traditions. In turn, Amalia helps Mrs. Claus find the courage to reveal Mrs. Claus’s own truth: the world thinks she’s a nice lady in the background who bakes cookies but while Santa has always been the face of Christmas...Mrs. Claus actually runs the show.Inspired by her own life, questions she had as a young person, and the encouraging wisdom of her immigrant grandmother who was a second mother to her, Meena Harris has created a heartwarming story that celebrates family and friends as it playfully upends the traditional Christmas origin story and firmly places a new figure at the center: Mrs. Sarah Claus.
